earthquake

Finally, i am done with my first and the last presentation of this semester. And just as i was celebrating, the earth shook with me.

Thankfully, that earthquake which rates 8.5 on the Richter scale didn't agrivated another Tsunami. The tremors in Malaysia was felt by many, on highrises, cars, houses, shops, etc. It was that bad! Even my brother felt his bed shaking, when neither of us at home could feel anything. Hmm, maybe it is because his bed is on four sticks and is more vulnerable to any movements.

Well, i hope nothing more will come out of this earth quake. Please, let everyone be well and happy.

Sepet!

I finally watched Sepet today! Thanks to MingYang's generosity for his original Vcd. Which wasn't very clear, but thank you anyway! =) I am so proud that this movie was made by Malaysians, in Malaysia. This movie really showcased the true essense of our culture and ethnicity differences beautifully. It also voiced out a lot of things which many, are even afraid to state out loud in public.

This is not a typical teenage-bimbotic hollywood love story, although some may find it otherwise. I like how Orked's parents are so open-minded about her being with a chinese boy. Racism has been a huge factor in our lives. It is practice in everywhere you see in this country! Banks, universities, schools, laws.. I mean, what has happened to citizen-equality rights in our so-called democratic modern country? Let's not get too far-stretched, think local.

Well, my question is, do ones skin colour makes him/her more superior than others? This is so ethnocentrical. (as from ethnocentrism, for those who don't know, it means, thinking that ones group is more superior than others.)

I hate racism. But we do succumb to it. Hell, it's a dog eat dog world!

Music for the soul

Everytime i listen to music-without-lyrics (what do you call them?), i wind up with this weird feeling. It tugs my heart-strings. I remember when i was younger, whenever i listened to Kevin Kern, tears will crowd up in my eyes. Don't know why though. I always associate this kind of music to my emotions. I feel the music.

The 'Autumn in My Heart' songs are currently playing on my computer. Ahh, Heavenly~

I have always wondered how can someone be able to write and compose songs/music so beautifully. Music that really gets to your heart and soul. Composers/songwriters, i salute you!

On a totally different note, I really want to watch Sepet, but am too lazy to go to the cinema. I asked a dvd seller today if they do sell the dvd, but sadly, they don't. I would have to get the original itself. I wanna wanna wanna watch sepet-ah!

a simple reminder

Today,upon a bus,I saw a girl with golden hair
I looked at her and sighed, and wished that i was as fair
When suddenly she rose to leave,
I saw her hobble down the aisle.
She had one leg and used a crutch
But as she passed, she passed a smile.
Oh, forgive me when I whine
I have 2 legs, the world is mine.
~~~
I stopped to buy some candy
The lad who sold it had such charm
I talked with him a while, he seemed so very glad
If i were late, it'd do no harm.
And as i left, he said to me,
"Thank you, you've been so kind
It's nice to talk with folks like you"
"You see," he said, "I'm blind."
Oh, forgive me when i whine
I have 2 eyes, the world is mine.
~~~
Later, while walking down the street,
I saw a child with eyes of blue
He stood and watched the others play
He did not know what to do.
I stopped a moment and then i said,
"Why don't you join the others, dear?"
He looked ahead without a word.
And then i knew he couldn't hear.
Oh, forgive me when i whine
I have 2 ears, the world is mine.
~~~
With feet to take me where I'd go.
With eyes to see the sunset's glow.
With ears to hear what i would know.
Oh, forgive me when i whine
I've been blessed indeed, The world is mine.
~~~
Everyday, we wish for more,
But really, we have so much to be thankful for.

news?

I'm starting to hate (okay that's a bit heavy), dislike newspapers nowadays. It's all bad news and more bad news. Is this world really changing from good to bad to worst? Don't you remember how your parents or grandparents would always comment about "the good ol' days- when everyone trusted everyone, children roamed around the streets alone like birds flying in the sky, freely, no worries, and without fear"?

Is it that the people in the world today are worst off than the people twenty to thirty years ago? Are we becoming more inhuman?

I really do think that, in the olden days, there are crimes like today. Only that, they were not widely publicised as news are right now. And more often than not, the media publishes a whole load of crap, far from the truth.

However, I believe in the phrase "It's better to be safe than sorry", but, i do not want to control my way of living just because of all these! I do not want to live in fear, and looking over my shoulder each time I leave the house. What's the point in living then? To be a girl at a time like today, is an extremely hard thing to do. Well, actually being a female in any period of time is a hard thing.

It all boils down to the mental frame of the crime-committers/crime-committer-wannabes, what is going on in that crazy mind of yours??

it's history to history!

Tamadun Islam's mid-term exam is tomorrow. And what am i doing now? I can not, i repeat, Can Not remember what the "beautiful" subject has to offer. Does all these have a purpose in our future? Why don't they just teach us Geography instead? At least, it is more relevant than learning something of the past. What is in the past, stays in the past. We Must look towards the future! If only..

I am so bloated, i feel almost as sexy as a pregnant cow.

Smo has been in Sri Lanka for the past 2 days. He has grown up my boy, going for business trips. ;) Luckily though, he has been texting me from there. So far, all's fun!

house hunting

Finding a house to rent in pj is not easy!
I spent the whole afternoon going from ss2 to cheow yang to jasmine towers to section 19 to section 17 with my college friends, just to hunt for a suitable house for them to rent. Firstly, we need to find one that is near to a bus-stop which the utar buses stop, one that is convenient enough to get meals, one that fits 6 to 7 people comfortably, and one that is safe to live in. Oh ya, not forgetting, not too pricey too. This ain't easy i tell you! Almost all the houses that has signs on their gates indicates that only their room is for rent. Where are all the nice-meet-the-conditions houses??

I am tired to tears.

Okay, maybe that was a little exxagerated. ;p But i am tired.

I have a load of assignments and practicals which i have yet to do. Help me! I thought 7 weeks would mean less work load, as opposed to the time-constraint. But noo....
Help me?

I need to start being disciplined and committed to my work. Can't go on dreaming forever now can i? ...

html is a babe

WebPage Design classes are so fun! Only the practical ones. I now know how to play with html! There's still a few things that i still don't know though, like how to draw a line across a word to cancel it out, or how to post pics here. lol. I have been using this blog for about nearly two years now and i still don't know how to post pictures. I'm a dud, ain't i? Shumbahdy Teach Me!!

I watched Constantine today! It's a good movie, but i don't quite understand it. Speaking of movies, there will be a number of nice movies coming out this year. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Lemony Snickets, Finding Neverland and a few more that i cannot seem to recall now. Since i was a screaming, bawling, naked child, i have liked fairy-tales. Tales from childrens' books never failed to put a smile on my face. That is why, i cannot wait for it to be out in the screens! *hai-ho hai-ho hai-ho the merry oh.... * ;)
