Kung Fu Hottie
A few years ago, I was never really a big fan of Chinese Kung Fus and neither was I a Donnie Yen fan. People would ask me "Eh, lets go watch this new gangster movie starring Donnie Yen", and my immediate response would be, "Who IS Donnie Yen?".
Then came Ip Man 1. When I watched that, I asked that question again. This time, out of awe. Though I must say that not all kung-fu movies sit well with me. I don't quite enjoy the swish swoosh, fly here fly there motions. But just for Donnie Yen as Ip Man, I make that exception.
I thought Ip Man 2 was rather short on visual and emotions compared to Ip Man 1. Mainly because 1 focuses more on his journeys and 2 only on 1 particular incident.
One of the boys asked, if given a choice, would you rather have Ip Man's kung-fu skills or Iron Man's body suit. The majority of the boys there would don the Iron Man suit in a heartbeat. Sigh, boys will be boys. They don't know about style.. :p Having the kung-fu skill inbuild in you is the way to go ok. Think of how nimble and convenient it would be if you can go kung-fu pow wow on anything and anyone to get whatever you want. Rather than, "Err, wait ah.. don't fight first. Let me wear my suit."
But Kung-fu skills or Body suit, if you are no Donnie Yen lookalike, you'd be just like a panda on tiptoes.
